Broken Enchantments (Lugh Blackthorn) (open)

"That can't be good."

Raven moved over to examine what was left. The box was definitely emptier than before, and lo and behold, there were paw prints in the ground.

"Do you all see these prints on the ground?"

"Yes, I noticed those. They lead to the forest that way." Lugh gestured.

The 3 of them started following the prints. They had barely reached the outskirt of the forest when the paw marks stopped occurring, the ground wasn't soft here.

"Lugh, you must want your amulets back, should we all head in now? Whatever it is couldn't have gotten far."

"I do, but I do not see how. The forest is thick and we can't follow the marks."

"Not a problem."

Raven pointed his horn at the ground where the last print was present. A yellow, gaslike aura rose from the ground and hovered in midair, leading deeper into the forest.

"It's scent in a visible form. No idea what kind of creature we're dealing with though. Maybe something small since we didn't notice it, but that's being generous. Are we going through with this?"

Evest was ready for anything. "Let's do this. I'm interested to see what this creatures are and after that fire, My interest in adventure is peaked" Evest took out a little investigator hat and sat down next to Raven. "Its clue finding time"

"Of course we are! I need to get those back. And small or not I am going to put a stop to this." With that they headed off.

Deeper into the forest they went following the yellow trail. The forest gently slopped down into a ditch of a dry river bed. There they found burrows that led deep under ground. They were roughly pony sized and some slightly bigger. The burrows themselves were pitch black and smelt of mold.

Lugh made a face. "I remember something like this. I found them the last time my enchantments got tampered with."

"Tampered before? Didn't know enchantments were so coveted."

Raven looked at all the burrows. They reminded him of underground traps from an Ancient Pony War that led it's victims down into prisons. He pushed the thought away.

Raven stepped towards one of the burrows and looked down. Pitch black. He tried casting a light down it. The light didn't penetrate far enough to make any difference. Slightly irritated, he picked up a rock, and dropped it in

THUMP!

"I guess it's possible to jump down. ....Ummm...."

Raven felt nervous. Was he about to jump down a dark hole with no idea what could be down there?

He then remembered a line from a play he had watched and couldn't help himself. He sat down in front of them and spoke in a voice deeper than usual.

"After this there is no turning back. We can leave now. Or we can stay here, and see how deep the rabbit hole goes."

Evest chuckled a bit. "Ha, good one. Well I have wings, I should go first. If anything bad happens I could fly out faster than either of you." The hole was tight. If he needed to fly out, It would be difficult but not impossible. He slowly went down the hole. After a couple minutes, he reached the bottom where the hole expands into a area of a small room. "OK. ITS SAFE. COME ON DOWN" Evest yelled back up.

Lugh stepped into the hole and gently slid down it. He didn't really want to go in by force but once he reached the bottom his horn lit up to a minimum of light as if it was loosing power in these tunnels. His horn flickered but held.

"This doesn't feel good... not at all."

"Move out of the way, I'm coming!"

Raven jumped down with a soft landing on the dirt. The light cast by Lugh penetrated just enough to see ahead.

"What creature would steal charms, and make these kinds of holes? A diamond dog?"

"I'm not sure. They would seem to big, No?" Evest looked around the cave. "Them again, these caves could fit them? What do y'all think?"

"Those dogs... wouldn't they be far more attracted to stones that enchantment charms?" Lugh walked a little forwards and his horn flicked more violently but held. His light had waned just a bit. "Well whatever it is it is effecting magic."

There was a bit of chuckles coming from down the burrows and a scatter of foot steps along the dirt and stone as if whatever it was was heading deeper underground.

"What the heck was that?"

the sound they heard faded out. whoever it was must have been far ahead of them.

Raven stopped and stomped his hoof on the ground softly several times to test the dirt. the dirt muffled his steps.

"I'm going to go check it out" Raven said as he trotted past them, feeling like a stealthy spy.

THUD! He had reached a flight of stairs downwards and took a step that was too wide. Luckily he hadn't fallen down the whole flight.

"I'm fine. Jeez, what the heck made these things? I'm gonna give them a piece of my mind..."
